Presbyterians Today: The New Way of Doing Church

Posted by Sally Clark on Sunday, February 7, 2016
Presbyterians Today Magazine: The New Way of Doing Church

Presbyterians Today magazine (est. 1867), published 10 times annually by the General Assembly Mission Council, needs non-fiction articles for the July/August 2016 issue. The theme is called, “The New Way of Doing Church.”

This issue will look at the loosely connected networks—built around technology and shared interests or identities—that are replacing institutions, programs, and organizations. We’ll ask some hard questions about how they form and whether they’re really effective or not. And we’ll seek out the Presbyterian networks that are thriving and try to pinpoint the reasons for success and how this could change the ways we organize our congregational and national ministry.

Editors will only consider non-fiction feature articles, both long (up to 1500 words), or short (up to 500 words).

Payment: negotiated between the freelance writer and editor, typically up to $300/feature. Also pays extra for photos, also negotiated.

Deadline: send your article pitches before March 2, 2016.
