Prufrock Press
At Prufrock Press, we want to build a new series of humorous, high-interest children’s nonfiction books about interesting moments in science, and we are on a search for great teacher-authors to participate in the writing project. Imagine a series of children’s books (ages 8 to 12) based around the themes of science experiments gone wrong, explosive experiments or dangerous innovations, strange or gruesome findings, or electrifying science discoveries that shocked the world.
Initially, we imagine specific books in the series would target scientific discoveries in both past and present that are not often taught in everyday science courses, including medical research/innovations, chemistry or electricity experiments that went wrong, or surprising inventions and discoveries that caused a stir or that popular belief never imagined could be true. However, if you have a different idea, we would love to hear it! Ultimately, we’re looking for humorous, gruesome, dangerous, and appealing science books that kids won’t want to put down. Deadline April 1, 2015.
