Ruminate VanderMey Prize for Nonfiction

Ruminate Magazine: Chewing on Life, Faith, and Art
VanderMey Prize for Nonfiction

Ruminate is excited to announce our annual VanderMey Nonfiction Prize! As a contemplative magazine, we are sometimes asked if Ruminate is seeking or only accepts "spiritual" writing. The answer to that question is no. We are simply looking for good writing and there are no restrictions on the subject matter or content for submissions. The best way to understand the work we publish is to read a past issue.

The winner of the VanderMey Nonfiction Prize will receive $1500 and publication in the Summer 2019 issue. The runner up will receive $200 and publication. We are pleased to announce that our finalist judge is Jessica Wilbanks. Essays can be up to 5500 words.

Entry fee: $20. Deadline to enter: November 15, 2018
